Frequently asked questions

General

No. Contrary to a common misconception, hardware locks are not inherently more secure than software locks. Security depends on the number, quality, and effectiveness of the security layers built into the product, whether it is hardware or software.

The security percentage reflects how well the product resists hacking, cracking, reverse engineering, and debugging tools. Reputable vendors test this in their own labs; some publish the figures and some do not. Copy Protection International states these results openly on each product’s dedicated page.

A successful break is technically a “successful attack”. If such an attack succeeds against any of our products, we analyse it, harden the relevant security layer or layers against that threat, and release any necessary updates for the affected product.

No absolute guarantee exists; however, Copy Protection International is working towards uncrackable software-lock technology and has so far delivered a real security level of about 96% for its customers.

All protection steps are done with the Protection Toolkit in a few clicks on a Windows desktop or laptop and do not require special skills. Protecting content, using the customer portal, managing end users, and using our products in general do not require specialist knowledge.

Yes. This is what the Protection Toolkit is for. It does not require IT specialist knowledge; protection is completed with a few simple clicks.

Yes. Before buying, you can test security and performance for seven days on up to two devices. To receive a trial, complete the consultation form with accurate details.

Complete a consultation request. Within 24 hours our sales team will contact you and, after the consultation, send pricing for the products and services you need.

Building a quality, secure, effective security product requires a highly skilled development team, responsive support, 24/7 monitoring of network infrastructure and end-user equipment, modern data centres, servers, firewalls, professional backup and storage, and global SMS authentication, among other things. With these resources Copy Protection International delivers reliable products with about 96% security. We still work hard to keep prices as low as possible without sacrificing performance or security so more people can protect digital content against unauthorised copying. Given our track record, the value of the Protection Toolkit and customer portal with hundreds of control options, and continuous updates, our pricing is not expensive—it is fair and aligned with what we deliver.

Base product prices are not discounted as such; however, when you purchase or upgrade to higher tiers and pay a higher initial fee, licence purchases can receive discounts from about 21% up to 83%.

Fees are split into initial fees and usage fees, quoted in a pro forma invoice in Tether (USDT). For the initial fee you may pay in cash or by transfer to the company in Iranian rials (IRR), British pounds (£), Turkish lira (₺), US dollars ($), or USDT. Usage fees (licences, products, upgrades) are collected in USDT from all customers. If you insist on paying usage fees in the listed fiat currencies, applicable tax in your country is deducted from the amount (in Iran this is currently about 25% under new account-turnover tax rules). Payment methods include cash, bank transfer, or the company wallet. After payment, register the receipt (for USDT, the TX ID) in the portal to top up your wallet, then pay initial or usage charges. All customers—whether they buy in person at our Istanbul office or online—have seven days for unconditional refunds.

After the purchase is completed, installation and delivery on your system is done online within 24 to 48 hours.

The purchase cycle has five steps: (1) consultation with sales and receipt of a pro forma invoice; (2) payment per the invoice and keeping the receipt or TX ID; (3) sending terms and conditions together with photos of your national ID (front and back) or the first page of your passport and the payment receipt or TX ID; (4) customer verification, document checks, and scheduling installation; (5) installation and go-live of the purchased product.

Under Copy Protection International’s definitions, the customer is a natural or legal person who has purchased one or more of our products and uses our products and services under the agreed terms to protect their own products.

An end user is someone who uses content protected by the customer—in other words, the customer’s own customers.

Any natural or legal person who wishes to use our products or services in any way must read and sign the terms and commitments document. It sets out the company’s obligations to customers and customers’ obligations to the company; after signing, both sides are bound by it.

For more than fifteen years we have focused solely on strong, continuous work against unauthorised copying. For more detail, see the blog article “30 reasons to trust Copy Protection International and buy its products.”

We have no physical office in Iran. Customers or their authorised representatives may visit our branches in the United Kingdom (London) and Turkey (Istanbul) in person by appointment, with help from our Persian-speaking staff for purchases or administrative matters. Addresses, phone numbers, and email are on the Contact us section at the bottom of the site.

Yes—this is our money-back policy. For seven days from purchase of the Balas software lock you may return the product to the company and receive a refund of what you paid.

Yes. You may return your current edition at the prevailing price and upgrade by paying the difference. If you bought your current tier online, you must wait 60 days before upgrading to a higher tier or visit a company office in person.

Besides the initial product purchase and usage fees (licences, products, optional cloud), we do not impose hidden charges where avoidable. Force majeure or IT changes outside our control—new operating systems, hardware changes, connectivity infrastructure—are exceptions.

No. For security reasons we do not share customer identities. You may find some customers who chose to be visible by searching for the company or products such as Balas Player or the Balas software lock in search engines.

BALAS software lock

Twelve security layers that can be enabled or disabled per product and end user; professional watermarking with end-user identity; online switching of the document rendering engine; a professional Protection Toolkit with barcode generation and upload of protected documents; tools to manage protected content and end users; error tables and troubleshooting guides; worldwide support; a dedicated data centre; licence purchase via plugin; and many other features.

Updates are delivered as needed, without a fixed schedule, and automatically. If automatic update fails, the end user should download the latest Balas Player from our website and reinstall it.

Yes. In general, however, executables and software projects involve dependencies, design, languages, databases, and many other factors—consult our level-2 specialists before buying any security product.

No. Balas has two video rendering engines; you can switch an end user between them in real time for the best viewing quality of protected documents.

After protection you may send Balas Player and protected files on CD/DVD, hard drive, USB, or other media—or upload protected files to our servers or your own and send the end user only download links for Balas Player and the licence. After registering the licence, the end user can in-app download and view protected content; for that download step they must be online. After local download or use of physical media, internet use is mainly for security and monitoring and consumes only a very small amount of bandwidth.

Two: the Protection Toolkit and the customer portal.

Balas Player is a secure, capable, professional application with many options, installed on the end user’s PC or phone; end users view protected documents only through it.

Prerequisites include .NET Framework 4.8 and K-Lite Codec; they are bundled in the Balas Player installer and install automatically. The lightweight installer does not include them.

Windows full installer: about 753 MB (includes .NET Framework 4.8). Windows lightweight: about 196 MB. Android: about 46 MB.

Windows 7 SP1 (updated) through Windows 11, 32-bit and 64-bit.

Android 6.x (Marshmallow) and higher.

No native macOS or iOS build. iMac and MacBook users can install Boot Camp and Windows 10 and run Balas Player there. There is currently no solution for iPhone users.

Browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, and Opera can capture screen video and images via plugins, so protected content in a browser cannot achieve high security. Browser playback also suffers from lower quality, speed, and limitations on memory, processing, and service access imposed by the OS.

The Protection Toolkit is secure, professional software with which you batch-protect digital documents and, if needed, upload them to our servers or your own. You also use it to access the customer portal via the dedicated product it generates.

Depending on your purchased tier, the Toolkit can be installed on one to four devices.

There is no limit on volume, type, or number of files.

The customer portal is a dedicated area on our website for each customer. Through it you professionally manage protected products and end users with hundreds of control options.

Yes. You can use all portal features 24/7 provided your account is not blocked for policy violations or debt, you sign and submit the annual updated terms, and internet infrastructure in Iran (where applicable) remains stable.

A product is a unique code you use to protect your digital content. If you sell several courses (e.g. English, maths, history) and want a user who bought English to pay again to view maths or history, you need separate product keys for maths and history.

The Balas package offers two product types: Solo and Mylo. If your offering is a single file, use Solo; if it contains multiple files, use Mylo. Solo: shows one file per licence but you can protect unlimited files under one Solo product and give the end user one file per licence—the licence purchase plugin must be installed on your site. Mylo: can show unlimited files per licence.

When you have more than one distinct product to protect and sell, you need a separate Balas product for each.

Because both were protected with the same product, activating the first unlocks both; the user sees them as one combined product. To sell several distinct offerings to the same end user, protect each with its own product.

Yes. You can re-protect content sold to end users on your schedule and add files—for example a new lesson each week. You do not need multiple products for this approach.

The initial fee includes one product and one free serial number. You can buy more products online through the customer portal as needed. Base price per product is shown in the portal; each additional purchase receives a cumulative discount per the table, up to about 60%.

A licence is an exclusive code that activates protected content—it grants your end user permission to use your product. Each licence is per product and per device unless you buy a multi-device licence (up to four devices). If an end user needs to use the licence outside your country, convert it to an international licence for the approved fee.

From tier C upward, if you sell online you can install the licence purchase plugin on your site or export licences from the portal and publish them as an Excel file so buyers receive their licence automatically with the purchased file.

Product licences are valid from one year to lifetime and during that time consume services such as SMS activation codes and bandwidth. Our dedicated data centres and infrastructure deliver these with high quality and uptime, covering maintenance, annual equipment and software licences (databases, antivirus, etc.), backup, SMS, 24/7 monitoring, and human oversight—so we charge per licence to cover those services.

Yes. For each sale of a copy of your product to an end user you must purchase an appropriate licence according to product lifetime, number of devices, and the user’s location.

No. You can buy as many licences as you need.

Any time, in any quantity and for any lifetime, online through the customer portal.

Licences are valid from one year to lifetime, as chosen at purchase, and can be renewed after expiry. Each licence receives an activation code on one device while it is still valid within the purchased period. Unused time can extend the expiry—for example if activation is delayed three months, three months may be added unless the licence has already expired unused, in which case renewal or a new licence is needed. Users have the full licence lifetime (e.g. one year) to activate. Never share a licence you revealed to one end user with someone else, to avoid ownership disputes.

When buying, you can purchase licences for one to four devices and assign them to the end user, who may install on as many devices as the licence allows.

We support Android and Windows. End users can view content on phone, PC, or tablet using one national ID with a multi-device licence (up to four devices). Different people cannot register the same licence—the same user must register on each device with the same identity details.

Yes. You can limit an end user’s licence by run days, run count, or a combination.

A numeric code sent by SMS worldwide to the end user’s mobile phone to verify the number for installing Balas Player.

Install Balas Player, enter personal details and the licence you provided, connect to the internet, receive the SMS activation code, then view the protected content.

Name, mobile, and national ID are used as watermarking when viewing protected documents—an important security layer and useful for legal action if needed. They also support search, end-user management, and marketing. Location is used to connect to the nearest server for a stable link.

By SMS to the mobile phone. If network issues arise, you can provide the code manually from the customer portal.

No. For quality and security, activation SMS worldwide is sent only through Copy Protection International’s infrastructure.

Yes, globally where local infrastructure supports SMS delivery to the handset—24 hours a day in most countries.

No. It is included in the licence price.

Yes. Before or after activation, if you no longer want an end user to access protected content, open the portal, find the user, and block them.

Normally no. Supporting your end users is your responsibility (or your technical contact’s). The portal provides tools such as end-user management and error guides. We only assist end users you cannot help yourself, with a queue, valid non-expired licence, and sometimes Level-2 support fees—only when you request it.

Yes. After licence registration, end users see your details, brand, and product name in Balas Player.

In the portal under user management, use search by product keyword and end-user details to access all information except their national ID.

Protected content plays in Balas Player easily. After one-time setup and activation code entry you do not need to re-enter it. If the OS or hardware (disk, GPU, RAM, etc.) changes, Balas Player usually recognises the device as the same one. If automated detection fails, you can reset the licence in the portal and make it usable again.
